Are people concerned about deploying CRM systems over the internet without strong security ?

Yes, they are, because security awareness is at its highest ever. However, there are a number of factors to consider here. First, to burst the mythological bubble on security via the net. The security protocols that exist plus the hardware and software precautions make internet security reasonably strong despite all the horror stories that you hear, make internet security far better than is thought by the public. In fact, the ASPs can provide well-siloed security for each of their customers.

However, ANYTHING can be hacked or disrupted if the hackers are skilled enough. CRM security is particularly dicey because it involves a substantial amount of users from outside the company deploying the system. Consequently, data theft or disruption can come from a substantial number of directions. While firewalls etc. and software are there for protection, there are no guarantees.

If you would like a more detailed answer, please let me know and I'll get one to you soon after you ask. Hope this at least helps.
