Which CRM packages are popular in Europe?

What packages of CRM are widely used in Europe (especially the UK) and why have they made their mark?

The package market in the UK differs little, now, from the US market - leading packages being Siebel, Pivotal, Onyx, Saleslogix, and the like. Until a couple of years ago there were several 'leading' European vendors, however these have been swallowed by the US players, or disappeared. There are some niche players, such as AIT in the financial services sector, and some emerging players, such as eWare. However aside from that, for full-function enterprise CRM packages we're indebted to the Americans.
