Hospitality Information Technology Association

definition -

The Hospitality Information Technology Association (HITA) is an international association of hospitality educators, hardware and software vendors, information technology users, and consultants to the hospitality industry. There are three levels of membership: student, individual, and corporate. HITA provides members with workshops, seminars, newsletters, and an annual technology conference presented by Cornell University's School of Hotel Administration in Ithaca, New York.

HITA's objectives are to develop technology curricula for hospitality educators, to help hospitality educational programs implement technology curricula, to establish a network of members to share information, to act as a forum to acquire skills and resolve common problems, and to encourage undergraduate and graduate students to further their studies in information technology through scholarships and sponsorships.

Each year, HITA and PKF Consulting conduct a survey to determine the use of technology within the United States lodging industry. They use the survey's results to provide information and resources to further train individuals in the lodging industry to take advantage of technology especially the Internet as a marketing and management tool.
