Allegiance, a South Jordan, Utah-based provider of voice of the customer applications, acquired Austin, Texas-based Inquisite and its online survey software for an undisclosed amount.
"They were attractive for a couple of reasons," said Chris Cottle, Allegiance's vice president of marketing. "They have really great clients in the market research space using their tool for robust surveying including campaign management, sample management and list manager. They also have really smart people who know the industry. It complements our product very well."
Allegiance has its own survey tool, but Inquisite's is focused on market research and is "more advanced than our product," Cottle said. Allegiance focuses on customer feedback, offering a platform combining customer feedback from surveys, the Web and employee feedback.
Both applications are built on a .NET framework and the companies hope to have a combined offering early next year. Both companies also offer their applications in a Software as a Service (SaaS) model, though Allegiance also offers a premise-based version.
"The reason we're doing this is we want to define and consolidate the voice of the customer feedback management market," Cottle said. "To be one of the top few in the enterprise feedback management market requires we have certain elements together and available. These elements are critical if customers want to be able to manage robust survey campaigns, but also gather collect and act upon all that unsolicited feedback that happens in the course of everyday business."
The combined companies will employ about 70 people and maintain an office in Austin with headquarters in South Jordan.
Combined, the two companies can count Gap, Xerox, Target and some of the top pharmaceutical companies as customers, Cottle said.
"It's pretty exciting stuff for us," he said.
