Siebel tackles new verticals
Siebel Systems' latest vertical market software releases are aimed at the travel, transportation and hospitality industries. Siebel eTravel 7, Siebel eTransportation 7 and Siebel eHospitality 7 all offer sales, marketing, service and other customer-touching business processes with a market-specific focus. Existing customers in these markets can upgrade to get the vertical functionality.

Siebel signs Sabre
Sabre Inc., the Southlake, Texas-based provider of technology, distribution, and marketing services for the travel industry, will begin using software from the San Mateo, Calif.-headquartered Siebel Systems Inc. to coordinate its multi-channel customer service interactions. Sabre plans to deploy Siebel Sales 7 to give its sales force a single repository for all customer information, marketing collateral and presentation materials. It will also implement Siebel Call Center 7 for multi-channel customer support and Siebel Marketing 7 for personalized campaigns.
ChannelWave inks Sterling deal for partner relationship management
Business-to-business software firm Sterling Commerce in Columbus, Ohio, has chosen software from Cambridge, Mass.-based ChannelWave for managing indirect partnerships, monitoring channel sales activities and providing partner support. Other ChannelWave customers include AT&T, BEA, Cable & Wireless, Hewlett-Packard and Motorola.
Salesforce.com finds finance guy
San Francisco-based Salesforce.com, a CRM services provider, has a new chief financial officer. Steve Cakebread has joined the company after stints at Autodesk and Hewlett-Packard. He will report directly to Salesforce.com CEO Marc Benioff.
BroadVision names new executive
Portal vendor BroadVision in Redwood City, Calif., has named Andrew J. Nash its new executive vice president and chief operating officer. In his position Nash, who previously was CEO of collaborative commerce firm Collaborex, will oversee all customer- and market-facing functions.
