NetLedger Inc. is trying to put an end to the days when sales reps rThe P CRM ip open their paychecks in anticipation of how large their commissions will be.

The San Mateo, Calif.-based hosted accounting and CRM provider is introducing its new Sales Compensation Manager, a module that calculates commission amounts and presents sales staff and decision makers with a dashboard-view of totals that are updated in real time.

The software gives managers control of commission formulas, letting them present commissions as a flat rate or based on factors like percentage of a quota or percentage of the quantity or dollar amount of a sale.

The automated feature also has a predictive component, tallying projected commissions based on sales forecasts. It generates reports in a spreadsheet-like interface, the company said.

Senior CRM product manager Mini Peiris credited NetLedger's integrated accounting and CRM approach for the new commission calculator.

"You cannot build commissions with just the front-end CRM piece," Peiris said. "You have to have that order process piece."

NetLedger is also hoping Sales Compensation Manager spurs end-user adoption, motivating reps to spend more time working with its CRM software by appealing to their wallets.

functionality is less robust than products from best-of-breed providers and large enterprise software firms, NetLedger is, he said, the first application service provider to produce such a tool.

"Given their target audience and its current competition -- basically an Excel spreadsheet -- it offers a good feature set," Galvin said.

NetLedger will include Sales Compensation Manager with Version 9 of NetCRM, its standalone CRM offering, and NetSuite, its integrated accounting and CRM software. Both cost $50 per user per month.

The company will begin rolling out the new version later this summer.
