Best Buy gears up for Vista, Microsoft CRM: The retail giant's small and midsized business (SMB) sales team is hoping to cut down its sales cycle with the new integration between CRM and Office. This smaller sales division is effectively piloting Vista, Microsoft's newest operating system, for the larger Best Buy organization. Microsoft takes next step toward SaaS CRM: Early in 2007, Microsoft released CRM Live to select partners in its Technology Adoption Program (TAP). The company heralded its "portable model," which allows customers to switch between hosted, SaaS or on-premise CRM with the same metadata. Microsoft adds analytics to CRM: Microsoft is offering a free analytics package for CRM based on its wider business intelligence (BI) initiative. The analytics package uses technology from Microsoft's SQL Server, Business Scorecard Manager and Excel. Microsoft extends into online service with Colloquis buy: Late in 2006, Microsoft purchased Colloquis, a provider of natural language search and online service technology. Microsoft will offer services based on Colloquis technology to online businesses as well as incorporating it into its own applications.
